The tradition of giving a specific gift on a wedding anniversary dates back to the Middle Ages.
According to tradition, the 40th wedding anniversary gift is Ruby. Rubies are thought to possess an eternal inner flame, symbolic of passion in a marriage after 40 years together.
Ivan contacted me with a request for an Art Deco inspired ring with a 9.0 carat Ruby, a gift he planned to give his wife for their 40th anniversary. He sent me the Ruby, an image of the Chrysler Building and her ring size to get started.
I began sketching designs & ultimately created two CAD renders depicting the setting in 18K yellow and white gold.
Ivan & Susan celebrated their wedding anniversary in Chicago last weekend.
