Square on Square. Simply stated, this was the design concept that ultimately unfolded into this Custom Lotus Pendant Necklace.
Jeanie contacted me with a request for a custom pendant to frame an antique, carved crystal lotus. She emailed me photos of a small bowl & picture frame as sources for inspiration, emphasizing the punctuated corners and overall simplicity in the pieces.
Taking inspiration from Eastern art and artifacts, I designed the pendant frame with corner details ~ my intention was to complement & accentuate the crystal lotus without detracting from it's inherent beauty. Jeanie requested that the piece be cast in 18 karat gold, an appropriate choice given that according to Chinese culture, white metal symbolizes brightness, purity, and fulfillment.
